UEMS is implementing the 'Rainwater Harvesting Promotion in Lalitpur Sub Metropolitan City' project fro FY 2015/16 to address the issue of existing water scarcity due to groundwater depletion in Lalitpur Sub Metropolitan City (LSMC). The main objective of the project is to promote rainwater harvesting and revive traditional ponds to recharge groundwater and to access safe water through bio sand filter for urban poor and low income families, rental groups ad their living environment. Four communities ( Pinchhen, Khapinchhen, Bubahal and Kumbeshwor) from LSMC were selected to install the rainwater harvesting system and bio sand filter.
